Five Key Concepts of Content Marketing for GPS Tracking Businesses

This month in the business corner we take a look at content marketing, and give you five key phrases to keep in mind as you investigate this method of growing leads to help you grow your GPS tracking business. Let’s start with the granddaddy, content marketing itself.

  1. Content Marketing
Content Marketing is your ability to reach out through different new media channels and your website – primarily through blogging -- to inform, attract and influence your potential customers. The most important key to content marketing, as you might imagine, is good content. Potential clients can sniff out a site that only gives them marketing messages and not good content – and they might not return. However, if you give them solid, relevant content, you start to establish yourself as an expert in the GPS tracking field, and they’ll come back for more. Yes, your marketing message has a place on your site – but so does generally informative content that will keep people who are just beginning to learn about GPS tracking coming back for more. Provide that helpful information to your audience while minimizing the marketing message, and your audience will often help you do your marketing for you by making referrals and recommendations. Make this traffic the heart of your lead generation and nurturing efforts, and it will pay off handsomely in the long run.
  2. Blogging
Blogging is a great way to generate content for Content Marketing, and it’s a great way to build your brand. Blogging is one of the most effective ways to establish yourself as an expert in the GPS tracking industry, helping to bridge any potential credibility gaps that might exist and letting people who are searching for information on GPS tracking that you know your stuff. Blogging is also an incredibly effective search engine optimization (SEO) tool, as Google shows a preference for rich, fresh content when delivering search results. It will expose your brand to a new potential customer base. It is not an overnight solution, however. It requires steady and consistent attention – but we firmly believe the results are worth the effort. Need some help getting started? Focusing on GPS tracking industry trends is a great place to begin.
  3. Conversion
Conversion, as you probably know, is just a fancy word for someone who took some sort of action that you wanted them to take. For instance, you might get hundreds of visits to your site every day, and you hope that visitors fill out a form. When someone does fill out that form, you’ve converted them on that goal. Likewise, for the leads that are in your system, your goal is to convert them from leads into sales. Simple, right?
  4. Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
IBM, NBA, MLS, FIFA. I know acronyms can be rather overwhelming at times. CRO refers to how many visitors to your website and landing pages actually convert to sales or lead generation, or whatever goal you had set for them to convert on; and obviously, a higher conversion rate is better. When your website demonstrates with all its great content that you are indeed a GPS tracking expert, you should see your conversion rate go up and your sales cycle shorten. Even a 1% conversion rate increase can substantially better your numbers in the end.
  5. A/B Testing
A/B testing (also called split testing) refers to presenting different versions of the same webpage to different clients, and tracking the conversion results. Used thoughtfully, A/B testing can be used to tell you what photos are more effective, what kind of buttons get clicked more, and loads of other information. Again, this is a methodology for optimizing your conversion rates – because even what you might consider a tiny improvement can improve your conversion rates appreciably.

I hope you’re beginning to see the power inherent to content marketing, and how it can be used effectively to help you market your GPS tracking business. Improving your content and visuals on your website can ultimately lead to a significant increase in lead generation, and ultimately in your sales. Now wasn’t that worth 5 minutes of your time?
